Simply amazing date with mother nature โค
As a nature lover, I HAD to take this nature walk into Haji waterfalls! Not a touristy site for sure, Ive only met locals along my walk.
TLDR: Watch a summry of the trip here at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BDcwq-wVKvA
Hiji Waterfall is located in the northern Okinawa where the majority of land is covered by greens and forests. The waterfall can be accessed in an attractive and easy hike along a nature trail through the forest. It was a 6 hours drive for me from NAHA airport. I quickly picked up my rented car shortly after landing.

You can see a quick visual of the map here. Looks pretty straightforward right? Just keep walking ๐
Before your walk, you will by past the camp site where visitors can stay for the night.
Once you past this camp site, you will be greeted by the rustling leaves and birds chirping brightly in the tree top.
Locals are extremely friendly, its always nice to be greeted “Konnichiwa” by passerby. Such hospitality and warm really does make you feel at home even though you are thousand of miles away from home. Communication is an issue as most senior Japanese are monolingual.
But then again, everyone understands the universal language of a friendly smile ๐

It is about a 2 kilometer walk from the main road where you park, which will take about 40mins for each direction in and out. Do allocate at least 2.5hours for the whole trail! There are no street lamps in the jungle, so be sure to plan for day light!
There is also a water trail where you can walk by the water banks. It looks extremely COOL but Id like to keep my feets and shoes dry, its only my first day here in Okinawa afterall!

One of the main highlight of the walk is the suspension bride. It spans 17 meters above ground level!

While it is a relatively simple trek, you will need much stamina as there are countless number of stairs for you to climb throughout the walk!

What impress me was the close up view of what nature has to offer! I am a sucker for terrarium, mosses and looking how they grow in the wild really excites me.

While it does look like a fly fishing paradise, my angler’s eye didnt catch sight of any fishes in the rapids.

And of course after 40mins of seemingly endless walk, you finally hear the roaring sound of white waters crashing along the rocks and pool bed. It was an impressive, lovely sight.

Sadly swimming isnt allowed in the waterfall, or I would love a cool dip!

Again, there are very cool moss around ๐
PS: How do I rotate the images? its driving me nuts! do comment below. thanks guys!
Peace out! ๐
